Typical projects undertaken by ARC staff in the Oil & Gas Sector, includes: Project: Development of Safety Management System Client: HRL Development of a clearly structured Safety Management Systems (SMS) Framework tailored to fit the client organisation within the oil and gas industry. A compliance matrix was constructed, onto which the company’s existing systems were mapped. In order to achieve a more efficient completion of the compliance matrix, a clearer understanding of how safety is delivered in the workplace was necessary, through the identification and modelling of the key SMS processes.
Project: Human Error Assessment of Onshore and Offshore Oil & Gas Control Activities Client: Total An assessment of a series of Onshore and Offshore Oil & Gas control activities was completed, using Hierarchical Task Analysis, to identify potential human errors in safety critical tasks. Qualitative assessment of these activities was completed to rate the potential significance of these errors and appropriate error reduction strategies were identified.
Project: Development of Risk Assessment & Incident Investigation Processes Client: ChevronTexaco A corporate Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation Process was developed for a multi-national oil company following a merger. The work involved the development of a risk assessment process and the associated procedures and the development of an accident/incident investigation process with particular emphasis on the identification of root cause and Human Factors elements in causality.
Project: Safety Culture Survey Client: BP Grangemouth A survey of all staff within the Utilities Group was conducted to identify the prevailing culture with respect to Safety. A questionnaire was developed focusing on safety culture issues inviting staff to describe their personal experiences and ideas for improvement. The results were input into a bespoke database and analysed allowing the current culture to be described and presented to Management along with a range of organisational and behavioural recommendations for improvement. Recommendations were subsequently incorporated into a rolling 90 day improvement plan for action.
