ARC has extensive experience in risk management and safety assurance within the Rail industry. Many of our consultants have chartered status and are respected members of professional organisations. ARC has supported rail projects in UK, on mainland Europe and Australasia. 
 
ARC has undertaken work for Hitachi, London Underground, Lloyd’s Register Rail, Siemens, Alstom, ProRail (Netherlands), RailCorp (Australia), ONTRACK (New Zealand) and Docklands Light Railway.

    Projects
     
    Project: Project Risk Analysis for new train station
    Client: ProRail
     
    A project risk analysis was carried out for the construction of Bijlmer, a completely new railway station in Amsterdam. Planning, financial and quality issues were identified and then evaluated using systematic risk analysis focussing on political, geographical, economical and legal issues. This resulted in the production of a risk register and recommendations for improvement.
     
    Project: Strategic Risk Management
    Client: Tubelines
     
    Complex and high profile project undertaking the management of client's risk management organisation as it underwent a period of huge organisational change which led to its transfer to the Private Sector via a PPP contract.
     
    Responsible for gaining buy in to the risk management process; management of the risk register; facilitation of the development of risk mitigation plans, migration of the existing risk register to new risk management software system (ARM); merging of Tube Lines risk register and methodology with the existing JNP risk register and methodology. Also undertook significant change management of the risk management function and operated throughout the Company from Chairman, Chief Executive and Director level to individual risk owners.
     
    Project: Independent Verification
    Client: RailCorp, Sydney. 
     
    External risk assessments undertaken for all types of rail projects in Sydney are independently verified by our consultants to ensure that they satisfy the correct processes but also that recommendations made are pragmatic, risk based and achievable
     
     
    Additionally ARC has consultants with railway project experience including:

  •  Railtrack WCML project to analyse operational delays with specific emphasis on causes related to human factors
  •  Providing the Human Factors input to London Underground Safety Case for submission to the HMRI – particularly in considering the ergonomic issues for the control centres.
  •  Application of novel train detection systems on the WCML and the impact that railway signallers and lineside workers have when restoring normal rail operations.
  •  Analysis of Engineering Authorities for RailCorp in Sydney and provision of a strategy to resolve deficiencies identified.
  •  Management of National Incident Records for a Rolling Stock manufacturer in the UK
